* Scientist from the IMT and the Institute of Pharmaceutical Chemistry jointly developed a higly specific ligand interacting with the nuclear receptor PPARbeta/delta , a receptor expressed strongly in many tumors as well as in mononuclear cells; e.g. tumor-infiltrating macrophages.
PPAR is a potential pharmacological target for the treatment of diseases with an underlying inflammatory response e.g. tumors, diabetes and metabolic syndrome and acts as a regulator of metabolism linked to multiple cellular functions.
